The old mill in Jerzens ...
In the year 1862, 38 farmers of Jerzens established a mill. At this time in Jerzens they cultivateted 30 hectars of rye, 33 hectars of barley, 5 hectars of wheat and 15 hectars of mais. Jerzens had the highest clutivation area of mais in Tirol. The cultivation of grain decreased in the past years to 0,20 hectars. The farmers therefore closed down the mill and sold their trading rights to the municipality and the agrarian cummunity in the year of 1980. In the year of 1985 they establised a new building at the same spot which accomodates a waterwheel look a like of the year 1862. It also houses the collection of milk of the alps.
Nowardays you can watch the woman baking bread. From the "Jerzner Alm" a 3 km long pipeline goes down to the mill.
