Arzl: at the foot of the valley at 883m above sea level
Arzl, with about 3,000 residents and covering 30km², is located at the foot of the Pitztal valley and lies approximately 15km from the ski and walking resort of Hochzeiger (Wald approximately 11km, Leins approximately 7.5km). The free guest bus takes you to the bottom lift station of the resort. It is 37km up the valley to Pitztal Glacier and Rifflsee resorts in St. Leonhard in Pitztal.
The district’s capital, Imst, is nearby and offers a range of activities: indoor-climbing, shopping facilities, culture … and it is about an hour’s drive to reach the region’s capital, Innsbruck. Guests travelling in groups by bus or on motorcycles appreciate Arzl’s central position in the Alps. Trips to Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Germany and South Tyrol can comfortably be accommodated in a day trip. Regardless of whether you are looking for relaxation, fun or an active holiday, Arzl in Pitztal has it all.
Arzl is the starting point for easy and intermediate walks leading through nature’s beauty that can be found around Arzl and its hamlets, Wald and Leins. Nordic walking, running, mountain biking, climbing ... for your active holiday in Pitztal! On top, there is a great weekly programme for families on offer.
Romantic winter walks through landscapes covered in snow or tobogganing fun on the natural toboggan run are waiting for you. Austrian-style curling or ice skating are entertaining off-piste activities on offer.
Arzl’s hamlets are Osterstein (880m), Bahnhof (717m), Timmls (1.054 m), Hochasten (1.327 m), Blons (930m), Wald (895m), Arzl-Ried (911m) und Leins (1.065m).

- The international ski star Benjamin Raich was born in Leins, a hamlet of Arzl. He learned skiing at the Hochzeiger ski resort. Benni gets amazing support from his own fan club Benni Raich Fanclub Pitztal.
- Angie Eiter an exceptional mountain climber, world champion and world cup winner was born in Arzl.
- Our local export for Nordic combined, the Olympic champion and world champion Mario Stecher, lives in Arzl and carries out some of his training in Pitztal.
