Not because the moor is situated so wonderfully on the magnificent saddle from Pitztal to Inntal, rather because moors with their typical fauna and flora are among today’s most endangered ecosystems.

The Piller Moor makes you aware again of the delicate balance of these natural refuges: Peat was extracted in the first section up until the seventies, damaging the moor as a result.

Today, you are witness to the amazing regenerative power of nature. The second section has been left completely untouched and is classified as a natural monument.
