Dear Visitors,
Unique in the region of the Eastern Alps: the historical "Richterhaus" ("Platzhaus") in Wenns with its profound frescos is a valuable example of the artistic creations of Pitztal. Here, right near the village fountain, was once the residence of the village steward - a type of mayor, judge and highest authority for eyerything at the same time. In 1576, one of the village stewards, Christoph Genewein, had the house converted into a renaissance building and the facade lavishly adorned - with scenes from the Bible and administration of justice with legendary characters and important coats of arms. Today, there are no longer any village stewards, but the "Richterhaus" was spared. How fortunate for us! |
