From the forest garden walk along the forest path to the Kielebergalm. From there a footpath – steep in places – leads up through the Wildkar to the Schweinelieger. Here you can choose between continuing straight on to the Aifner Alm or taking the path (difficult in parts and therefore only for experienced mountain hikers) to the Kleine Aifnerspitze (beautiful vantage point). Then back to the Schweinelieger and down on a well signposted path to the Aifner Alm which serves drinks and refreshments. From the Aifner Alm a well signposted path crosses the forest path; now turn right along the forest road to the signposted trail towards Harbeweiher/Bärenbad. Go on to Lachwies and from there back to the forest garden. Takes about 8–9 hrs; level of difficulty: intermediate.
Some general advice: Despite the beauty of the mountains you should bear in mind that this is hazardous terrain. Never plan a mountain tour without suitable equipment! Mountain boots and protection from the rain are extremely important. You are specifically advised not to undertake a mountain tour in poor weather and fog. Keep to the signposted trails! Tell your accommodation provider where you are hiking to and when you expect to be back. Start off on easy walking paths or trails and progress gradually to more difficult ones. Report Alpine accidents to the mountain rescue services in St. Leonhard, Plangeroß, Jerzens, Wenns and Arzl. Call 140 in emergencies. Please help to keep our environment clean.
