Piller circular route

Start
car park Piller Zentrum (1346m)
Finish
car park Piller Zentrum (1346m)
Swiss-Trac Tour:
Start at the car park opposite the fire station in Piller. From there, follow the tarmac road in the direction of Galflunalm. It is a straight road in the direction of a forested area for the next 0.5 km. The gravel path is a little loose and with a rougher surface here. Before reaching the woodland, turn off into a grassed path with some larger stones, which make for a bumpy ride. Leave this path after 300 metres and turn right on the path that takes you back to the village. Several larger water bars cross this path. After a few metres keep to the right and follow the path downhill, where, once again, several water bars cross the path. After half a kilometre, you will pass the sports grounds and return to your starting point within 300 m.

Lake Rifflsee

Start
Bottom station Rifflseebahn/Sunna Alm (2290m)
Finish
Bottom station Rifflseebahn/Sunna Alm (2290m)
Swiss Trac Tour: From the car park the valley station of Rifflseebahn gondola is accessed on level ground. Several steps up to the ticket office can be accessed via a short, but steep ramp. Proficient Swiss-Trac users can mange the gradient of the ramp. Please note that railings restrict access to the area outside the ticket office. You will also have to pass through this area in order to access the ground-level toilets around the corner of the building. Please note that these toilets are not suitable for wheelchair users. Access to the gondola is via a second, longer steep ramp. Even Swiss-Trac users would be advised to have someone to assist them for this section. The gondola is accessed via a step and the space between the benches allows for a wheelchair with a maximum width of 60 cm. The Swiss-Trac can be transported in the next gondola with an assisting person. Once at the mountain station, the helpful gondola staff will stop the gondola once again to allow for an easy exit. Immediately after leaving the gondola you can see Lake Rifflsee, a glacial lake nestled in a hollow that features are 3 km long circular route.
Directly next to the mountain station is “Sunna Alm” mountain restaurant. The circular route starts from here and also passes the jetty of the raft ride. The first 500 m are a steep descent and water gullies have to be traversed. Once the path levels off in the coombe of the lake the path is relatively level and well prepared. The second half of the circular trail, from the bridge onwards is more uneven with larger stones. The ascent back up to “Sunna Alm” is quite steep again. It takes approx. 1 hour to complete the route and return to your starting point. Enjoy magnificent views of Lake Rifflsee from the sun terrace of the mountain restaurant. The restaurant area of “Sunna Alm” is very spacious. The toilets are in the basement and cannot be accessed by wheelchair.

Fischteich Piller circular route

Start
Piller car park Fuchsmoos (1354m)
Finish
Piller car park Fuchsmoos (1353m)
Swiss Trac Tour: The start of this circular route is the car park at the pond “Landschaftsteich” Piller. From there, follow the main road for a short while before turning off to the hamlet of Fuchsmoos on the left. Continue to follow the wide tarmac road uphill. After approx. 0.5 km leave the tarmac road. The route now follows an easy gravel path that is crossed by diagonal water bars at regular intervals. A small restaurant by the fishpond can be reached in ca. 20 min. The path now descends again, at first along a gravel path, before returning to a tarmac path. The tarmac path continues through the hamlet of Piller down to the main road. Once there, return to the car park following the main road, which can be busy at times.

ZirbenPark Circular Route

Start
Mittelstation of the mountain lift Hochzeiger (2031m)
Finish
Mittelstation of the mountain lift Hochzeiger (2005m)
Swiss Trac Tour: It is a level road to get to the ticket office at the valley station of Hochzeiger gondola from the car park. From there, take a lift to the gondola access on the first floor. Right next to the lift on the ground floor is a wheelchair-accessible toilet. Entry to the gondola is via a mobile ramp. The gondola can accommodate wheelchairs with a maximum width of 60 cm. The Swiss-Trac can be transported in the same gondola or in the following gondola by accompanying persons. At the top station the gondola staff will again be of assistance to exit the gondola with a mobile ramp. Adjacent to the top station of the gondola you will find the catered mountain hut “Zeigerrestaurant”. It can be accessed across a meadow, which is hard to navigate and then via a ramp with a considerable gradient. There is a wheelchair-accessible toilet in the basement which is, however, not easy to find as it is not incorporated in the signposted area. Please note that during the summer part of the lift is covered by banners and making it hard to spot. The toilet is spacious and offers enough room for turning circles.

Starting at “Zeigerrestaurant” follow the beautifully laid-out 1.5 km long “Zirben” [pine] trail. Please note that there are large sections with a steep incline on loose gravel surface and taking this route is only advisable for experienced Swiss-Trac users. The steeper section passing the “Zirbenzapfen” [pine cone] with a big slide can, however, be bypassed by only taking part of the route. After approx. 2/3 of the trail, you will reach another catered mountain hut, “Tanzlalm”. Unfortunately neither the restaurant nor the ground floor toilets are suitable for wheelchair users. The last third of the trail back to the “Zeigerrestaurant” features a steep uphill section.

Wald 4

Start
Arzl/Wald car park by the church Wald (886m)
Finish
Arzl/Wald car park by the church Wald (887m)
Swiss-Trac Tour: Start: car park by the church. From there, take the tarmac road uphill past the parish office in the direction of Wald Mairhof. After driving alongside the road for ca. 0.5 km you will reach a junction. We would recommend to continue following the main road straight on and to continue the route in this direction. The road is very wide and with little traffic. Pass the next group of houses in the direction of the restaurant “Jausenstation Waldeck”. The path continues uphill until a turnoff on the left leads into a gravel forest path. The next section is downhill on loose surface. After another bend and a few metres, the gravel path leads on to a tarmac road, which continues downhill in the direction of the hamlet of Wald Obermauri. After a few 100 metres you will reach a junction. Turn left and the next 0.5 km follow a tarmac pavement alongside the road. At the next turnoff, turn right and continue downhill until you complete this circular route at the starting point.

Small Osterstein circular route

Start
Car park Fußballplatz Arzl (865m)
Finish
Car park Fußballplatz Arzl (865m)
Swiss Trac Tour: Starting point for this circular route is the car park near the football grounds in Arzl. From there, follow the tarmac road in the direction of the village. At the next junction turn right. After a short uphill section you will reach Diemersteig, which is a well-prepared gravel trail through the forest to the Osterstein hamlet. The route is overall relatively flat with short uphill or downhill sections. Once you have reached Osterstein, go through the houses, up- and downhill in places. The route is well signposted. Continue in the direction of Diemersteig through the hamlet until you reach the edge of the forest. Continue past a playground until you reach another forest road and the Diemersteig. The route takes you back to the starting point.

Rifflsee cross-country skiing trail

Start
Rifflsee railway top station
Finish
Rifflsee railway top station
Access this trail via Rifflsee mountain railway (return ticket) up to the top station. After accessing the cross-country skiing trail opposite the top station of the “Hirschtal drag lift” a slightly steeper stage of the trail runs downhill for approximately 300 m before you reach the actual cross-country ski trail. Once there, you can enjoy the magnificent panoramic views of Rifflsee on a classic or skate skiing track. Please don’t forget that you are skiing on a trail at an average of 2,250 m and will therefore tire more quickly than usual. For refreshments you can stop at the “Sunna Alm” or “Riffelseehütte“ mountain huts.

The trail is 1.5 km long and is manageable with the Swiss-Trac in approx. 30 minutes. The terrace can be accessed via a wooden ramp. The spacious terrace of the catered mountain hut “Taschachalm” offers beautiful views of the mountains that are part of Rifflsee ski resort during the winter season. The toilets are in the basement but this can also be accessed via a side entrance from the outside. Here, only one step must be mounted. The toilet cubicle is 115 cm wide and 190 cm deep. Start
Naturparkhaus Kaunergrat (1575m)
Finish
Naturparkhaus Kaunergrat (1576m)
Swiss-Trac Tour: The start of this route is the same as the great Harbe circular route at Naturparkhaus Kaunergrat. From there, follow a narrow gravel path that changes into a wide forest path. After approx. 30 metres there is a junction. Turn right and start your circular route. The forest path will now climb continually. The gravel is loose and rough in places and several water bars cross the path. After approx. 1.5 km you will reach the Harbe meadows where a path forks off to the right (in contrast to the Great Harbe circular route, where you would continue to go on straight). From here, the path descends steadily for 1.5 km before the last section takes you uphill back to the starting point. Diagonal water bars cross the path along the entire length of the route and depending on weather conditions the path can be loose or lined with puddles.
