Valley hiking trail with e-handbike

Start
Mandarfen (1679m)
Finish
Wiese (1177m)
Hike with E-Handbike: The valley hiking trail from Mandarfen to Wiese (ca. 22 km) can be navigated either by electric handbike or sections of it by Swiss-Trac. If you are using an electric handbike, we would advise to start in Mandarfen and take the route out of the valley. The route is overall challenging as it repeatedly features steep inclines and varied terrain. There are several sections through grazing pastures. We would recommend the following sections for Swiss-Trac users:
  • Mandarfen and Neurur (ca. 6 km)
  • Stillebach and Eggenstall (ca. 4 km)
  • Enger and Wiese (ca. 5 km)
You can choose start and end points in any of the villages and hamlets of St Leonhard within these three sections.

Cappuccino Route - Black

Start
Glacier Restaurant (2836m)
Finish
Top station Wildspitzbahn (Gondola) (3390m)
Access:
From the Glacier Restaurant at the top station of Pitztal's Gletscherexpress via a short downhill stretch (about 50 m) to the tour's starting point at the base station of Brunnenkogel T-bar lift.

Characteristics and Description:
Black Piste - Difficult ski tour along the ski run with very steep sections.
Moderately ascending route at the beginning, on the left of Brunnenkogel lift (seen from the valley) along the separate ascent track. After about 500 m you turn left (seen from the valley) and follow the ski piste number 26. Keep to the left edge of the ski run (seen from the valley). The permanently rising trail becomes steeper and steeper in the upper third. At the end of the strenuous climb you reach a small ski route, follow it for about 200 m on its right edge. Then turn left and head towards the top station of the Wildspitzbahn, always following the right edge of the ski run. Enough Alpine experience and a full set of ski touring equipment are absolutely required on this tour: suitable only for expert ski mountaineers! High danger of glacier crevasses outside the marked ascent track and secured ski runs. Never leave the signposted and secured ski area due to Alpine hazards.

Taschachhaus circuit

Start
Mandarfen (1679m)
Finish

Once there continue to run on the right hand side on the path leading up to Rifflsee Lake until a path forks off on the left. Instead of continuing up to Rifflseee, turn left and run via the Fuldaer high-level trail to the catered mountain hut Taschachhaus. Once there, it is a steep descent down across the glacier moraine passing the bottom station of the goods cable lift and on to the agricultural road at the bottom of the Taschach valley back to the Taschachalm. Return via the same route to the starting point in Mandarfen. Caution: This is a very long trail of over 20 kilometres! It can be shortened by descending at the Fuldaer high-level trail back down to the Taschach valley, but please note that the path leading downhill can be easily overlooked.

Then turn left to the emerald green Mittelerglesee Lake and once you’ve passed the lake turn right and run downhill in the direction of Neururer Alpe/Trenkwald and NOT up to the Verpeiljoch! Follow the alpine brook down the valley, then run along the “Almenweg” until you reach Neururer Alpe. Once there, follow the steep path down the valley to Trenkwald. Take the bus (or run an extra 5 km) to get back to your starting point in Mandarfen.   Caution: this is a very demanding and long trail with an ascent of almost 3,000 metres.
