Terms and Conditions of Participation
1. Terms and Conditions of Participation
1.1. The organiser of the Pitztal Glacier Marathon is the Pitztal Tourist Board, Unterdorf 18, 6473 Wenns (Tel.: +43 (0)5414 86999, email: events@pitztal.com)
1.2. These terms and conditions apply to all participants taking part in any of the events held as part of the Pitztal Glacier Marathon. The organiser is entitled to amend the content of these terms and conditions at any time and to update them accordingly.
1.3. The organiser, its representatives and agents shall not be liable for any damage or injury of any kind that may arise from participation in the Pitztal Glacier Marathon and the associated events.
1.4. In the event of rebookings, such as downgrading to a different distance (e.g. from a marathon to a half-marathon), the entry fee already paid will not be refunded. In the case of an upgrade (e.g. from the 5.5 km run to the half-marathon), no additional payment of the entry fee is required. However, the difference in entry fee for the more expensive event, plus any bank charges, must be paid. A rebooking is possible up to 10 days before the event via the amendment link, provided the relevant race is not yet sold out.
1.5. A transfer of registration to another person is possible up to 10 days before the event via the amendment link.
1.6. In the event of a participant failing to turn up, the event being cancelled or interrupted due to force majeure, the participant is not entitled to a refund of the organisation fee. In the event of withdrawal due to injury, the participant must provide a medical certificate. The starting place will be carried over to the following year. No entry fee will be refunded.
1.7. Participants are also prohibited from bringing dogs as companions to the running event. Spectators with dogs (which must be kept on a lead), however, are welcome.
1.8. The organiser reserves the right to make a minor adjustment to the timetable.
1.9. The organiser reserves the right to limit the number of participants per distance.
2. Liability
2.1. Participants confirm that they have trained sufficiently to take part in this competition, are in good physical health and that their state of health has been confirmed by a doctor.
2.2. Participants confirm that the year of birth and personal best time provided are correct and that the race number will not be passed on to any other person. Runners are aware that they will be disqualified if they leave the official route or alter their race number in any way, in particular by making the advertising print invisible or illegible.
2.3. No liability is accepted for theft or other incidents of damage. Participation is at the runner’s own risk; in particular, all participants are responsible for their own physical fitness.
3. Timekeeping
3.1. Timing is provided by our partner, Race Result Austria.
3.2. The timing chip is already integrated into the race number, so there are no additional fees for hiring a separate chip. All participants must use the chip integrated into their race number.
3.3. All marathon participants who have not passed the checkpoint in Schön (approx. 32 km from the start of the marathon route in Mandarfen) by 12:00 will be withdrawn from the race. All participants who reach the finish line by 14:00 will be included in the official results list.
3.4. By submitting their entry, all participants agree to the terms and conditions of the race. It is expressly pointed out once again that the running route follows almost exclusively the L16 Pitztal regional road and that traffic will only be partially restricted. The police and/or volunteers will provide the necessary road closures and safety measures.
3.5. Timing can only take place if the timing chip is used correctly and the route specified by the organiser is followed. If split times are missing or the recorded split times appear implausible, the organiser reserves the right to disqualify the participants in question.
4. Data collection and use of images
Participants agree that the details provided in the registration form, as well as any photographs, film footage and interviews featuring them, may be used and shared in radio, television, books and photomechanical reproductions without any entitlement to remuneration.
(Note in accordance with the Data Protection Act: Your data will be stored electronically.)
5. Medical service / race doctor, Red Cross
Safety measures and marshals: police, fire service and local clubs
Massages: available free of charge in the finish area in Arzl (Gruabe Arena)
6. Disqualification
Any unsporting behaviour (taking shortcuts, failing to follow marshals’ instructions, etc.) will result in immediate disqualification by the race organisers and exclusion from the results. Public road traffic regulations apply. Participants must run on the right-hand side of the road. So-called ‘left-hand runners’ will be disqualified without exception.
7. Information for spectators
During this event, photographs and videos of attendees will be taken for promotional and documentation purposes. These may be published in image folders, brochures and print media, on television and the internet, and also at public events. In the organiser’s legitimate interests, the processing and publication of such material will be carried out in compliance with legal requirements. To ensure that the legitimate interests of those depicted are not infringed, the photographs will be carefully checked by the responsible parties prior to publication. Under data protection legislation, participants have the right to request information about their personal data, as well as to request the rectification, erasure or restriction of processing from the organiser. Participants also have the right to lodge a complaint with the data protection authority (https://www.dsb.gv.at).
