The Pitztal Mountain Railways – Skiing on the Roof of Tyrol

With more than 121 kilometres of slopes across the three Pitztal ski resorts – Hochzeiger, Rifflsee and Pitztaler Gletscher – you’ll not only enjoy an exceptional number of hours of sunshine, but also guaranteed snow from September to May. The high altitude guarantees perfect conditions, as 90 per cent of the slopes are above 2,000 metres.

Pitztal Glacier & Rifflsee

The Pitztal Glacier is one of Austria’s most snow-reliable ski resorts and ideal for skiers of all abilities. The ski season gets underway here as early as September. At the highest point, at 3,440 m, you’ll find ‘Café 3440’ – Austria’s highest-altitude café. The adjoining Rifflsee winter ski resort attracts both families and ambitious skiers with its varied slopes.

Hochzeiger Mountain Railways

With a breathtaking 360-degree mountain panorama and sun-drenched slopes, the Hochzeiger family ski resort offers ideal conditions for skiers of all abilities. Perfect slopes, powdery deep-snow runs and a 6 km-long, floodlit natural toboggan run await you. Quaint mountain huts invite you to stop for a bite to eat. Thanks to its altitude of up to 2,500 m, you can ski on perfectly groomed slopes right into late spring.

From 4–20 December 2026, treat yourself to the perfect start to the ski season at Hochzeiger: if you stay for 4 nights or more at one of our partner establishments, your ski pass is automatically included free of charge.
