Terms and Conditions for the Pitz Alpine Glacier Trail

Hereinafter, the event ‘Pitz Alpine Glacier Trail’ will be abbreviated to ‘PAGT’

1. Application – Validity
The PAGT is an event organised by the Pitztal Tourist Board, Unterdorf 18, 6473 Wenns. The latest amendments to the General Terms and Conditions are always kept up to date on the event’s website. They form an integral part of the contract between the organiser and the participant in the version valid at the time of registration.

2. Trail Routes – Nature
The various routes are situated in high-alpine terrain. Some sections of the routes are at altitudes of over 3,000 m and in terrain that is difficult to access. In particular, the P105, P90, P60, P45-Glacier and P45-Rifflsee races are extremely long, high-alpine trails. All trails offer a truly unique experience and guarantee an adventure in the mountains. Participants taking part in this event are aware that they are taking on a greater risk. Among other things, every participant must have sure-footedness and a head for heights.

3. Services provided by the organiser and participants’ personal responsibility
The organiser provides participants with the following facilities:

Marked race route
Refreshments (along the route and at the finish)
Medical service and mountain rescue along the route and at the finish
Information during the race regarding route changes due to alpine hazards (sudden changes in weather, etc.)
Participants in the PAGT are aware that this event places very high demands on them. With this knowledge, participants take part in the PAGT at their own risk. This includes being aware of their own state of health and fitness, as well as their equipment. Participants must therefore be prepared to withdraw from the race as soon as it threatens to pose a risk to their health. The instructions of the organiser and its authorised staff must be followed without exception. The organiser and its authorised staff may exclude and/or disqualify a participant from the event at any time. This applies in particular if the participant’s own safety or that of other participants is at risk. Entry fees are non-refundable.

As this event takes place in partly unspoilt natural surroundings, littering in the countryside is prohibited. Participants are also expected to behave in an environmentally responsible manner at all times. In the event of health problems or accidents involving other participants, participants are required to provide first aid.

4. Registration
Registration must be completed exclusively via the designated online form. A participant’s registration is considered binding once payment has been received in the event’s account within 14 days of completing the online registration.

The organiser has set an organisational limit of 1,400 starters. Registrations exceeding this limit will not be accepted.

If a registered participant does not take part, there is no entitlement to a refund of the entry fee or to receipt of the starter pack. The same applies if a participant informs the organiser before the start that they will not be taking part.

Participation is not permitted for minors (under 18).

5. Requirements and Health
An excellent level of fitness (both physical and mental) is absolutely essential for participation in the P105, P90, P60, P45-Glacier and P45-Rifflsee races. Furthermore, participants must possess a strong sense of direction. The organiser recommends that all participants spend several days acclimatising at altitudes above 1,700 m.

6. Equipment
Weather conditions can change rapidly in the mountains. A drop in temperature to below freezing with snowfall and/or a sudden storm are possible at any time above 2,000 metres above sea level. The following compulsory equipment is required for the various events and will be checked.

7. Guarantee of event staging
The organiser guarantees participants that the event will go ahead to the greatest extent possible. The necessary measures will be taken in accordance with external conditions. The organiser is entitled, at short notice and without refunding the entry fee, to:

a) make changes to the route
b) suspend the race and resume it
c) cancel the race or not start it at all

In the event of a participant not turning up, the event being cancelled or suspended due to force majeure, the participant is not entitled to a refund of the entry fee.

8. Knowledge of the route and traffic control
As external weather conditions may render the route markings illegible (markings blown away by the wind, smudged by rain, etc.), a thorough study of the route is essential for participants. Participants must be able to locate the trails using the map. A timetable is provided for each section of the route, indicating the latest permitted completion times. Participants who cross the finish line after this time will be withdrawn from the race by authorised personnel. Where the route crosses public paths and roads, traffic regulations must be observed.

9. Medical care, first aid
In keeping with the nature of the trail routes, the medical service is limited to coaching and providing medical care to participants. The medical service has the right to withdraw participants who are at risk of causing harm to their health from the race, either temporarily or permanently. In the event of accidents or medically prescribed exclusion from the race, the costs of care and evacuation by the civilian emergency services shall be borne by the participant.

10. Race number
The race number must be worn personally and clearly visible. It entitles the holder to access refreshment stations, first-aid facilities, sleeping quarters, showers and the luggage storage area.

11. Luggage storage
Various items of equipment may be left at the finish line. These must be handed in at the finish line no later than 30 minutes before the start. The organiser accepts no liability for the storage of equipment (e.g. rucksacks, shoes, clothing, etc.)

12. Lost property
Lost property must be handed in or collected from the information desk during the race. They cannot be stored or forwarded.

13. Protests
These must be submitted in writing to the organiser, accompanied by a fee of EUR 60.00, no later than one hour after crossing the finish line.

14. Disqualification
Participants will be disqualified if they leave the race course, fail to comply with the regulations or behave in an unsporting manner. The organiser’s decision on disqualification is final.

15. Data Protection
By registering, participants consent to the publication of their surname, first name, year of birth, place of residence and nationality in the start lists and results, as well as their finishing time for the event. This consent applies to publication on the internet, in print media, on TV/teletext, in announcer’s announcements, and to the display of start lists and results during the event.
The data provided by participants upon registration will be stored and may be passed on by the organiser to sponsors and partners in confidence.
If you agreed during registration that your data may be passed on to the ITRA, UTMB and DUV in the results list, they will receive the following data from us: first name, surname, date of birth, finishing time, nationality
Photographs and video footage taken in connection with the PAGT may be used on the internet, in print media and on TV without any entitlement to remuneration.
Unless participants object in writing, the organiser reserves the right to use the aforementioned personal details for marketing purposes.

16. Disclaimer
By registering online, the participant accepts the General Terms and Conditions (hereinafter referred to as the GTC).

Claims for damages by the participant against the organiser, regardless of the legal basis, are excluded. This shall not apply where the organiser, its legal representatives or vicarious agents have acted with intent or gross negligence, or where the organiser is strictly liable for damage attributable to it arising from injury to life, limb or health, or from a breach of essential contractual obligations.

The participant agrees to undergo equipment checks designed to verify compliance with the mandatory equipment requirements. These checks will be announced and carried out by the organiser. The participant is fully aware of and accepts the conditions of participation and the applicable regulations. They expressly declare that they have read and understood all the rules, regulations and conditions contained therein in full. By signing, the participant declares that they are taking part in the event at their own risk and that they are adequately insured against accidents (including whilst abroad).

The participant has assessed their state of health and assures the organiser that there are no health or fitness concerns preventing their participation in the PAGT. Furthermore, the participant is responsible for ensuring that their equipment is in good working order in accordance with these Terms and Conditions.

The organiser accepts no liability for lost valuables, items of clothing or equipment.

The organiser shall not be liable for any reduction in performance resulting from the participant being wholly or partially prevented from taking part due to statutory provisions and/or official orders.
