Plan P Projects in the Pitztal Valley – Mobility

Digital traffic information
To provide early information about road closures and traffic problems on the L16 Pitztal regional road, a digital display board is to be installed at the entrance to the valley or in the Arzl industrial estate. This will enable traffic measures to be implemented in good time.

Hochzeiger Mobility Solution
A shuttle railway from Niederdorf, Jerzens, is set to relieve congestion on the winding road leading to the Hochzeiger skiing and hiking area. It provides a safe transport solution for visitors, consolidates private transport and enables a smooth journey for coaches.

Wenns mobility solution
The L16 Pitztal regional road between Wenns and Jerzens is increasingly affected by natural hazards . Long-term measures, such as tunnelling this section of the road, will be necessary, for example, to ensure safety and access for medical care and tourism in the Innerpitztal valley.

Development of the Pitztal Glacier
To ensure competitiveness , we intend to modernise the Pitztal Glacier Cableways by constructing the Linken Fernerjochbahn and an above-ground feeder cableway to replace the Gletscherexpress. These measures are intended to extend the length of stay of our guests and promote economic development in the Innerpitztal.

Imst-Pitztal railway station multimodal transport hub
We want to turn Imst-Pitztal station into a central transport hub with optimised train and bus services, and expand it to include new sharing schemes. The ‘last mile’ into the valley is also to be improved to enable environmentally friendly and efficient travel by public transport.

High-capacity public electric vehicle charging infrastructure
We want to promote electric mobility in the Pitztal valley by establishing a high-performance public e-charging infrastructure with AC and DC charging stations. This sustainable solution is intended to boost the region’s appeal to environmentally conscious visitors and, furthermore, to support the regional energy transition.

Efficient public transport
To promote sustainable mobility, public transport services in the Pitztal valley are to be expanded. An attractive public transport system reduces private car use, cuts CO₂ emissions and protects the natural environment. In addition, the vision is to introduce an electric car-sharing scheme, partly funded by a parking management scheme.

Pitztal Valley Cycle Route
The Pitztal Valley Cycle Route is to be extended throughout its entire length, linking the valley with Imst-Pitztal railway station and the Inn Valley Cycle Route. The route will not only offer breathtaking natural scenery, but also cultural stops and culinary highlights. Ideal for e-bikes and cyclists who want to actively explore the Pitztal.
