Pitztal Destination’s Sustainability Policy
Sustainability Policy, Vision and Mission
Our commitment to sustainability in the Pitztal is based on a deep respect for the
environment. We recognise the importance of sustainable development that takes equal account of the economic,
social and environmental needs of the region. Our
sustainability mission statement and values serve as a guide for our actions and
decisions, ensuring that the Pitztal remains a place we can proudly pass on to future generations.

Vision
Our vision is to gradually embed sustainability considerations more firmly in tourism development and to shape a “Pitztal worth living in” for both present and future generations. We strive to strike a balance between the economic, social and environmental aspects of tourism and the region.
“To establish the Pitztal as a liveable and sustainable
tourism destination in the Alpine region”

Mission
Our mission is to establish sustainable tourism as an integral part of our identity. We are committed to tackling the future challenges facing tourism whilst seizing the opportunities to achieve a positive, long-term impact on our economy, society and environment. The Tourism Board acts as a driving force for sustainability for the region, its stakeholders and visitors. Through collaboration with all those involved in tourism, we are committed to the following principles:

1. Setting an example
The Pitztal Tourist Board plays an active role in the sustainable development of tourism in the Pitztal valley. Through consistent measures and innovative approaches, we set standards that extend beyond our borders. From sustainability-certified businesses to the promotion of regional economic cycles, we inspire tourism stakeholders, visitors and locals to act responsibly for the sake of our environment.

2. Sustainable accommodation
We aim to support accommodation providers that prioritise environmentally friendly practices , such as energy efficiency, waste prevention, sustainable mobility and the use of renewable and local resources. Through this initiative, we aim to offer our guests a stay with a range of options for a resource-efficient holiday, whilst at the same time making a positive contribution to the regional economy in order to establish a ‘Pitztal worth living in’ .

3. Mobility
Sustainable mobility is a key pillar of our sustainability strategy. We aim to promote travel by public transport and other mobility options that do not require a private car, and to reduce our dependence on fossil fuels. By investing in the public transport system, cycling infrastructure and electric mobility, we aim to reduce CO₂ emissions and offer our guests a sustainable way to explore and experience the Pitztal valley.

4. Sustainable events
We are committed to organising events that take economic, social and environmental aspects into account. By using sustainable materials, reducing waste and incorporating local resources, we strive to create events that not only inspire, but also have a long-term positive impact on our environment.

5. Circular economy and regional focus
Promoting a regional circular economy and localism is our guiding principle for sustainability. We want to strengthen local businesses and make use of our resources locally. Through workshops and events, we bring businesses and organisations together, source regional products and support initiatives such as the Pitztal Regional association in establishing a framework for regional products.

6. Development of sustainable services and products
Our aim is to develop sustainable and regional offerings and products that provide both visitors and locals with special experiences – in harmony with nature. Through innovative concepts and close collaboration with regional partners, we aim to promote responsible tourism that strikes a balance between the environment, the economy and the community – for a Pitztal worth living in.
