Kaunergrat Nature Park

The Kaunergrat Nature Park covers an impressive 589.2 km² and is a true paradise full of natural treasures. At Kaunergrat, natural resources meet great responsibility. Respectful interaction and coexistence between man and nature are at the centre of the park. In addition to extensive hikes, the nature park can be experienced in its visitor centres.

The Pitztal is one of three nature park regions. Whether guided hikes in summer or winter and snowshoe hikes in winter - the nature park centre is an ideal starting point for activities at any time of year.

Das Naturparkhaus Kaunergrat im Sommer
Kaunergrat Nature Park Visitor Center

One highlight is the Kaunergrat Nature Park Center at Gachenblick. The building, which is accessible to people with disabilities, serves as the heart of the nature park and, in addition to a spectacular observation deck, houses a restaurant and the new exhibition “The Magic of Diversity.”

The accessible building stands out for its extraordinary architecture and features an interactive exhibition dedicated to the ever-changing relationship between people, nature, and culture in the Pitztal Valley. The building also houses a café and an information area with a shop offering regional products.

Weidtblick House

The “WEIDtBLICK” building, owned by the Tyrolean Hunters' Association, is located on the grounds of the Steinbockzentrum. Inside this building, you'll find an exhibition about hunting in the Pitztal Valley and the wildlife of Tyrol. A short loop hike through the ibex enclosure connects the two exhibitions.

Exhibition: The Swiss Stone Pine

The Swiss stone pine is a defining feature of the Alpine landscape around Jerzens—a tree that has been a part of people’s lives here for centuries. The exhibition “The Swiss Stone Pine—A Cross-Border Talent” takes visitors on a journey into the fascinating world of the Swiss stone pine.

Ritzenried Artisan Mill

The Ritzenried Artisan Mill in Jerzens is a lovingly restored cultural landmark and one of the oldest mills in the Pitztal Valley. The “Handwerksmühle Ritzenried” association manages the site as a vibrant cultural and artisan center. In addition to a permanent exhibition on the history of the mill, the site regularly hosts temporary exhibitions, lectures, and creative workshops.
