Training trails Pitztal

Your start to the cross-country skiing season in autumn

Thanks to our alpine altitude, we offer you first-class conditions on two top trails in autumn. With the high-altitude trail on the Pitztal Glacier and the training trail in Mandarfen, there are two trails for your cross-country skiing start in autumn. The range of activities is complemented by a designated roller-ski trail around Mandarfen.

Early start to the season thanks to high alpine infrastructure

Passionate cross-country skiers and professional athletes have access to specialised training trails as early as autumn, which offer above-average snow reliability due to the altitude.

From 17 October 2026, there will be an approx. 3 km long and 5 m wide snowfarming trail in Mandarfen at 1,700 m above sea level. There is a changing room at the trail entrance .

The snow depot of the Mandarfen training trail

Start of the season in Mandarfen: 17 October 2026

The snow depot of the Mandarfen training trail contains around 30,000 cubic metres of snow.

So that you can concentrate fully on your training, we play it safe: around 30,000 m³ of snow is ready for the start of the season. Thanks to state-of-the-art covering technology, 70 to 80 % of the snow volume is retained over the summer. This guarantees an early start to cross-country skiing in autumn. We have also used the valuable experience from the first year to optimise the route planning.

Mandarfen training trail: Info and prices

The cross-country ski trail can be booked for three time slots, one of which is reserved exclusively for competitive athletes. There is a quota of 50 tickets per slot. Bookings can only be made via the online ticket shop. The price per person per slot is €12.00.

Slot 2: 10:00 am–12:00 am (public skiing)
Slot 3: 13:00 pm–06:00 pm (competitive athletes & public session)

Once you have made your booking, you will receive a race number in exchange for a deposit, which entitles you to use the training trail. This can be collected and returned during opening hours at the Mandarfen Tourist Information Office. On days when the information office is closed, cross-country skiers can collect their race number at Restaurant Siglu or at the reception of the Hotel “Das Vier”. The deposit will, of course, be refunded when the race number is returned.
