Arzl and its hidden athletes
Hey, did you know that Arzl in the Pitztal valley is home to some of Austria’s most successful winter sports athletes? The ski star and Olympic champion Benjamin Raich lives here with his wife Marlies Raich, a serial slalom winner, and their three children in Leins. Benjamin discovered his passion for skiing at the Hochzeiger and on the Pitztal Glacier.
The exceptional climber and world champion Angy Eiter also hails from Arzl and began her career here. Furthermore, love brought the Nordic combined skier Mario Stecher, an Olympic champion and world champion, to the Pitztal. Mario lives in Leins with his wife Carina and their two children.
Not to be forgotten is the three-time deep-snow world champion Georg Höllrigl, who calls the small hamlet of Timls in Arzl home. Arzl in the Pitztal is therefore not only a picturesque village, but also the home of many outstanding athletes.
