Hiking to the Gstoanig Kapelle [chapel]

On the way to the catered mountain hut Larcher Alm, turn off left at the third bend and follow a path, which leads you directly to the ‘Gstoanig Kapelle’, a chapel. Return by the same route to the starting point.

This hike to the earth pyramids starts at the car park Fußballplatz Wald (Wald football grounds) and leads via a beautiful path in the direction of the hamlet Hohenegg. On this path you will see “two towers with a stone hat” which only result from very special climate conditions from former moraine fields. Once you get to Walderbach stream you can follow it along a path (dead-end) to a waterfall. Return via the same path to the tarmacked road and, on a slight incline upwards, in the direction of Wald. Once at the top, a path turns off left through the forest and back to the starting point by the car park.

From the starting point at the Jerzens fish pond walk on a shaded forest path in the direction of Matzlewald. Return via the same route.

Walk along the shaded forest road in the direction of Kienberg. When you come to a fork, take a left and follow a steep path to Kienberg. Once there, cross the road and turn left towards the Pitze river. Continue to walk by a flat and even path to the Jerzens fishpond. Return to Matzlewald by the same route.

From the car park of Rifflsee gondola cross the bridge and turn left to walk on the wide agricultural road up to the catered mountain hut Taschach Alm. From there follow the road in the direction of Taschachhaus for a short stretch. Straight after the first bridge a path forks of to the left through the Mittelbergler forest to the valley station of the glacier express and from there on to Mittelberg. Since 2019, then follow the newly built “Pitztaler Sagensteig” [path of Pitztal’s legends]. Find out about the myths and legends of Pitztal at five stops along this path up to the catered mountain hut Gletscherstube at the foot of the Mittelberg glacier. You can return back to Mittelberg via the same path or follow the agricultural road or the Talwanderweg [valley hiking trail] to Mandarfen.

From the starting point at the car park of the Luis Trenker Trail cross the road and walk along the popular path through the Pitzenklamm gorge. At the end of the Luis Trenker Trail, where the Pitze joins the Inn river, follow the tarmacked Inn valley cycle path (Inntalradweg) to the right to the entrance of the path of the gorge. This leads to the hamlet Wald/Niederried. At the fountain and the bus stop Wald Wendestelle follow the tarmacked side road on the right after approximately 100 metres that leads to a farm track. Follow it to the 94 m high suspension bridge. After crossing the bridge have a break at Bungy Stüberl. Refreshed, continue to walk on the side street Pitzenebene to the bus stop Arzl i.P. Pitzenebene. Then follow the path at the bus stop Parkplatz Bungy Stüberl down as it leads back to the starting point. Should you be afraid of heights continue to walk to the fire station from the hamlet Wald. From there turn right and follow the road to the end of the village. A forest path on the right will then take you back to the starting point. Caution, you will have to walk the last 100 m run along the roadside. (Luis Ternker Trail is closed in winter)
