Leins circular route

Starting point: Church in the hamlet of Leins. The track leads left to the bus stop. From there  continue  walking  on  a  farm  track  to  Oberleins.  Following  this,  walk  along  the country road to Krabichl. Then follow a forest road to the right until you reach a large meadow (approx. 1 hr). At the crossroads to the catered mountain hut Leiner Alm turn right down the hill to the Leiner Mühle [mill] and continue to walk to Gabne and back to the church square.

Hike to Mauchele Alm

IVV circular route Arzl

Starting point: Arzl tourist information office/IVV stamp office. The circular route starts opposite the hairdresser, to the right of the veterinary clinic. Passing the clinic, continue around the Osterstein to the sports grounds of Arzl. From there, walk on in the direction of the village centre and just before the ‘Magnus Chapel‘ follow a steep 
path to the Benni-Raich-bridge. Over the bridge continue to the hamlet of Wald, then past the school, right over the old road all the way down to the river Pitze. From here, a newly built steep path leads back to the village centre and the tourist information office.

Circular route: Wenns/Matzlewald – TV tower ORF – Sender Klapf – Matzlewald

Take the path to the right in the direction of the catered mountain hut Kieleberg Alm. After about 20 minutes walking time turn off left to get to the TV tower. Once you reach the tower, the path continues to Stein. Take an immediate left to return to Matzlewald.

Chapel path Arzl im Pitztal

The starting point of the Chapel Trail is the Steige car park. From here, the trail leads past the Zangerl family farm shop in the direction of the village centre with the first stop at Arzl parish church. The church, first documented in 1358, is dedicated to Bishops Ingenuin and Albuin. On the cemetery right next to the church is the Our Lady, Help of Christians funerary chapel, a pilgrimage chapel from the late Gothic period. A steep path right next to the church continues to Lourdes Chapel, built in 1897. Hike back to the church via the same trail and then continue in the direction of Burgstall via a sunny uphill climb leading through forests and meadows and boasting wonderful views of the valley. Following the signs (“Kapellenweg Arzl”) you will reach the hamlet of Arzlair with the pilgrimage Chapel of Our Lady, majestically nestled on a hill like a castle. From there, continue downhill to Timls to the Chapel of Our Lady with ceiling frescoes by the Imst Rococo painter Josef Wörle. Now keep to the right, follow the signs, and stay on the road to the Steinhof fork. In the hamlet of Steinhof is the Chapel of the Holy Family, which was built in the mid-18th century, the last stop on the Chapel Trail. Walk along the valley hiking trail to the bus stop at the junction to Timls. Here you can conveniently get on the public bus to Arzl and get off at the town hall [Gemeindeamt]. If you prefer to hike back to Arzl along the valley hiking trail, please calculate another 30 minutes for the two kilometres back to the starting point (Steige car park).

Double chairlift top station - Wennerberg - Hochzeiger Gondola bottom station

Starting point: double chairlift top station. From there turn right, southward for approx. 200 m along the ridge. Then turn left to descend to the valley behind the Wennerberg and continue to walk down the valley passing both catered mountain huts Wenner Almen in the direction of Kalbenalm. After the second Alm climb up to the 
catered mountain hut Trög-(Trögwiese) Hütte and continue to the catered mountain hut Leiner Alm. Turn left a few metres after this Alm to return to the bottom station.

Circular route Luis Trenker Trail

From the starting point at the car park of the Luis Trenker Trail cross the road and walk along the popular path through the Pitzenklamm gorge. At the end of the Luis Trenker Trail, where the Pitze joins the Inn river, follow the tarmacked Inn valley cycle path (Inntalradweg) to the right to the entrance of the path of the gorge. This leads to the hamlet Wald/Niederried. At the fountain and the bus stop Wald Wendestelle follow the tarmacked side road on the right after approximately 100 metres that leads to a farm track. Follow it to the 94 m high suspension bridge. After crossing the bridge have a break at Bungy Stüberl. Refreshed, continue to walk on the side street Pitzenebene to the bus stop Arzl i.P. Pitzenebene. Then follow the path at the bus stop Parkplatz Bungy Stüberl down as it leads back to the starting point. Should you be afraid of heights continue to walk to the fire station from the hamlet Wald. From there turn right and follow the road to the end of the village. A forest path on the right will then take you back to the starting point. Caution, you will have to walk the last 100 m run along the roadside. (Luis Ternker Trail is closed in winter)

Circular route Imsterberg

Walk from the parking space Steige up to the farm and right head out towards the sawmill/ toboggan run. Continue through a spruce forest on a wide forest path, which continues to a steep climb. This leads through a romantic gorge to Imsterberg village. Walking time to Imsterberg: around 2 hours. To return, walk through Imsterau, turn right at the church and follow the state road. A few metres before the railway crossing, the path continues right through the hamlet of Imsterau all the way to the power house. At the power house (Kraftwerk), continue on the Unterwaldweg to the industrial esta te of Arzl. From there, a forest path next to the main road leads back to Arzl’s village centre.

Hike to Aifner Alm

From the starting point, take a forest path left in the direction of a pond [Harbeweiher]. The forest path reaches a steep trail, which you continue to follow, keeping to the right. Just before the Harbeweiher, take a left turn. Continue to walk on this trail to the catered mountain hut Aifner Alm. Return by the same route you came on.

Circular route Pfitschebachwasserfall - Tiroler Steinbockzentrum [Tyrolean Alpine Ibex Centre]

This circular hiking trail starts at the town hall of St. Leonhard and leads out of the valley towards Eggenstall. Once there, follow the signs to Tiefentalalm. Follow the agricultural road for several metres until a steep trail forks off to the left in the direction of Tiefentalalm. Continue following this trail until you reach the viewing platform of the Pfitschebach waterfall after ca. 15min. Continue to hike on this trail back up towards the agricultural road that leads to Tiefentalalm. Follow this road until you reach the turn off towards Schrofen. A steep path through the forest takes you directly to the Tiroler Steinbockzentrum [Tyrolean Alpine Ibex Centre]. Take time for a visit and have a break at its Ansitz Restaurant before following the newly built path back to your starting point at the town hall in St. Leonhard.
