Hochzeiger Family Trail

There is riding fun for all age groups on the blue single trail, which is around 7 km long. The Hochzeiger Family Trail is characterized by a moderate gradient (3% to 8%) and hardly any obstacles. But there are some curves, berms, waves and of course endless fun. The single trail starts at 2000 meters at the Hochzeiger middle station. From the middle station it runs on the "Hexenweg" to the Hochzeigerhaus/Stalderhütte, before the trail enters into the stone pine forst near the “Bärensteig” and finally ends at the Hochzeiger valley station at 1,450 m. The bikes can be transported to the middle station with the gondolas. There are special bike tickets available. At the valley station you can also find a bike rental and a bike washing area.

Our Rookie Parcour (practice area for beginners) is also located at the Hochzeiger middle station.
Everyone who would like to try out the world of downhill biking  or simply wants to train their skills on the bike,
has the ideal practice at the rookie course (Hochzeiger middle station). There are waiting jumps, a snake run,
a small bridges, wooden stairs, and much more.

Ibex Trail

The Ibex bike trail starts at 2,500 meters directly at the top station of the eight-seater chairlift. The blue single trail impresses with a panoramic view and it’s beautifully placed curves. All bike enthusiasts will experience action-packed downhill fun over a length of 4.5 km to the Hochzeiger middle station at 2,000 meters. If you want, you can continue biking fun on the Hochzeiger family trail (start at the Hochzeiger middle station at
2,000 meters, end at the Hochzeiger valley station at 1,450 m) The total length of both trails is 11.5 km, the total difference of altitude is 1,050 m. The starting point of the ibex trail can be easily reached with the Hochzeiger gondola lift and the Hochzeiger eight-seater chairlift. There are own bike tickets available. At the bottom station you can also find a bike rental and a bike washing area.

From Plangeroß follow the signposts of Pitztal’s Bike Route for approximately 2.3 kilometres to Mandarfen. 

Stage without summit – Day 2: Wenns – Wiese

Starting point: Wenns town centre in the direction of Piller via the old road [Alte Straße] passing Obermühlbach, Bichl and Langegerte. Once there, follow the main road for approximately 300 metres towards Matzlewald. At the sawmill in Matzlewald follow the forest road in the direction of Kienberg. Continue to follow the tarmac road through Kienberg and turn right to Graslehn at the first fork. After the last houses a path leads in the direction of Ritzenriederalm/Straßebergalpe and then joins the “Pitztal Almenweg” trail to the mountain hut Söllbergalm. Once there, a forest road leads back down to Wiese.

Stage without summit – Day 1: Arzl – Wenns

Starting point: Arzl – from the church a winding path leads up to Burgstall and then on to the hamlet of Arzlair. 
Walking through meadows and a forest the trail leads on to the catered mountain hut Plattenrainalm. Once there, you can take in the panoramic views of the Inntal valley and visit the meditation chapel to let your thoughts wander. A slightly steeper trail leads up to the catered mountain hut Hochastner Alm. Then continue along the mountain ridge on a beautiful forest path directly to the catered mountain hut Venetalm (Follow the signposts for the circular hiking trail “Venet Rundwanderweg”. Then turn into a forest road towards Wenns. You will be rewarded with beautiful panoramic views of the surrounding mountains. 

Stage without summit – Day 4: Vari. III Piösmes – Mandarfen

Starting point district Piösmes: Go back to Scheibe and then follow a forest road, then a steep forest path until you reach the catered mountain hut Arzler Alm. Afterwards follow a wide forest road for ca. 1 kilometre until you are beneath the Rappenkopf summit, then turn off onto a steep trail in a southerly direction. Follow this uphill trail until you reach another fork after approximately 500 metres and again turn in a southerly direction. Here the high-level trail, built in 2012 starts, which will remain on approximately the same level between 2,000 m and 2,400m beneath the Seirlöcherkogel summit and in the direction of Neururer Berg. Along this section there are several fantastic viewing points in the direction of Mandarfen or the Mittagskogel summit and Pitztal’s glaciers. After a walking time of approximately 4 hours you will reach Neururer Berg mountain and then follow a shaded forest trail downhill towards Trenkwald. Follow the signposts to Plangeroß via the Pitztal Bike trail. And then follow the valley hiking trail to Mandarfen. 

Stage with summit – Day 4: Vari. III Piösmes - Mandarfen

Starting point district Piösmes: Go back to Scheibe and then follow a forest road, then a steep forest path until you reach the catered mountain hut Arzler Alm. Afterwards follow a wide forest road for ca. 1 kilometre until you are beneath the Rappenkopf summit. After approximately 100 metres in altitude you will reach the Rappenkopf peak, where you will be rewarded with breathtaking panoramic views. After the descent from the peak, a path forks off in a southerly direction. Follow this uphill trail until you reach another fork after approximately 500 metres and again turn in a southerly direction. Here the high-level trail, built in 2012 starts, which will remain on approximately the same level between 2,000 m and 2,400m beneath the Seirlöcherkogel summit and in the direction of Neururer Berg. Along this section there are several fantastic viewing points in the direction of Mandarfen or the Mittagskogel summit and Pitztal’s glaciers. After a walking time of approximately 4 hours you will reach Neururer Berg mountain and then follow a shaded forest trail downhill towards Trenkwald. Follow the signposts to Plangeroß via the Pitztal Bike trail. And then follow the valley hiking trail to Mandarfen. 

Stage without summit – Day 3: Wiese – Piösmes

Starting point Wiese: Approximately 100 metres before the hamlet Wiese, follow the agricultural road to the 
catered mountain hut Söllbergalm. Once there, a trail leads on through larch and pine forests on a continuously steep trail in the direction of Lake Brechsee. After a 30 minute walk, turn off in the direction of Stallkogel – Mauchele Alm. Then you will come across a newly built, moderately steep trail starting at the catered mountain hut Mauchele Alm. After following the red road markings for approximately 500 metres turn left and walk uphill across rocky terrain towards the catered mountain hut Neubergalm. (Please note that you will have to be sure-footed and unafraid of heights for this section! However, you will be rewarded with beautiful views of the valley). After Neubergalm, a shaded trail leads through mixed woodland to the beautifully set catered mountain hut Tiefentalalm. Then you can choose to return on a trail via Wald or via the agricultural road past the viewing platform of the “Gschwandbach” waterfall towards Scheibe. The agricultural road in Scheibe takes you back to Piösmes. 

Stage without summit – Day 5: Mandarfen – Mandarfen

Starting point Mandarfen: The trail leads through the Hirschtal valley up to Lake Rifflsee. Once there, follow the high-level trail signposted as “Offenbacher Höhenweg” . Keep an eye out for a fork and the Lake Plodersee signpost and then follow a continuously steep trail up to Lake Plodersee. Once there, follow the “Fuldaer” high-level trail, which is moderately steep, sometimes up and sometimes down. Cross several streams until you reach the only critical point of this trail – the “Vordere Köpfl”. There are rocky and steep sections to master here, however, the path is safely secured with steel ropes and can be accomplished as long as you are surefooted. From then on it is a steady downhill climb to the cirque [Kar] and then a little further uphill to the catered mountain hut Taschachhaus. Catch a fantastic glimpse of the Taschach glacier world from a viewing point on the mountain’s crest just above the mountain hut. It is advisable to return via the moderately steep agricultural road to the Taschach Alm mountain hut and then further on to Mandarfen.
