Hike to Taschachalm mountain hut

Start
Mandarfen Car Park Rifflseebahn (1675m)
Finish
Mandarfen Parkplatz Rifflseebahn (1675m)
Swiss-Trac hike: From the car park at Rifflseebahn gondola take the service track to the “Taschachalm” on 1,830 m. The trail is 1.5 km long and is manageable with the Swiss-Trac in approx. 30 minutes. The terrace can be accessed via a wooden ramp. The spacious terrace of the catered mountain hut “Taschachalm” offers beautiful views of the mountains that are part of Rifflsee ski resort during the winter season. The toilets are in the basement but this can also be accessed via a side entrance from the outside. Here, only one step must be mounted. The toilet cubicle is 115 cm wide and 190 cm deep. The door is 80 cm wide.

Small Harbe circular route

Start
Naturparkhaus Kaunergrat (1575m)
Finish
Naturparkhaus Kaunergrat (1576m)
Swiss-Trac Tour: The start of this route is the same as the great Harbe circular route at Naturparkhaus Kaunergrat. From there, follow a narrow gravel path that changes into a wide forest path. After approx. 30 metres there is a junction. Turn right and start your circular route. The forest path will now climb continually. The gravel is loose and rough in places and several water bars cross the path. After approx. 1.5 km you will reach the Harbe meadows where a path forks off to the right (in contrast to the Great Harbe circular route, where you would continue to go on straight). From here, the path descends steadily for 1.5 km before the last section takes you uphill back to the starting point. Diagonal water bars cross the path along the entire length of the route and depending on weather conditions the path can be loose or lined with puddles.

Great Osterstein circular route

Start
Parkplatz Fußballplatz Arzl (865m)
Finish
Parkplatz Fußballplatz Arzl (864m)
Swiss Trac Tour: Starting point for this circular route is the car park near the football grounds in Arzl. From there, follow a forest path for a long and continually downhill section. The surface has loose, rough stones in places. After ca. 1 km you have reached the lowest point of this circular route, the path levels out for a while before continuing on another ca. 1 km long uphill section. Please note that the surface of the path is also loose in places here. At the end of the forest path turn to a tarmac road in the direction of Osterstein. The road continues uphill for several hundred metres past houses and alongside the road before turning right into Diemersteig, which is a well-prepared gravel trail through the forest. It is a slight uphill climb to return to the starting point.

Hike to Gletscherstube mountain hut

Start
Car park Mittelberg (1734m)
Finish
Car park Mittelberg (1734m)
Swiss-Trac Tour:
Use the car park at the end of the valley in Mittelberg, where a broad service road leads up to the catered mountain hut “Gletscherstube” on 1,926 m. The path to “Gletscherstube” is approx. 2 km long and is manageable with the Swiss-Trac in ca. 30 min. You can admire the end of the valley from the sun terrace. The anteroom of the toilet is accessible by mounting one step, however, the toilet cubicle door cannot be accessed as its door opens to the inside and it can therefore not be locked.
Altitude difference: ca. 120m, maximum gradient 5°

Beginner Route

Start
Mittelstation Hochzeiger (2025m)
Finish
Kalbenalmweg (2153m)
This beginner’s route is ideal for those who dare to take their first steps on touring skis. The first few meters are very flat, which is perfect to get used to your new sports equipment. It then gets a little steeper and you get a little more feel for walking with climbing skins. Once you have reached your destination (Kalbenalmweg), you can ski back to the start on the piste, or you can take the Sechszeiger route and continue a further 233 meters in altitude to the mountain station of the Sechszeigerlift.

Circular route Pitzenhöfe

Start
Wenns Parkplatz Kirche/Mehrzwecksaal (976m)
Finish
Wenns Parkplatz Kirche/Mehrzwecksaal (983m)
Swiss-Trac Tour:
Please note that we recommend starting this circular route from Wenns in the direction of St Margarethen, as the forest path is very steep the opposite way around and in wet conditions assistance is required even when using the Swiss-Trac.
The route starts in Wenns following the pavement along the main road until reaching St Margarethen. After passing the M-Preis supermarket leave the main road and turn left into a side street. After ca. 500 metres the street enters a forest path. Depending on weather conditions, the surface of the path can be slippery, and especially the first section of the route is steep. Now follow an easily manageable downhill path through a forest for 1.5 km. There is a bridge after the woodland. Keep left and follow the tarmac road back to the centre of Wenns.

Great Harbe circular route

Start
Naturparkhaus Kaunergrat (1574m)
Finish
Naturparkhaus Kaunergrat (1574m)
Swiss-Trac Tour: Start: Naturparkhaus Kaunergrat. From there, initially follow a narrow gravel path that will change into a wide forest path. After ca. 30 metres you will reach a junction. Keep right and start your circular route. You can, of course, also take this route in the opposite direction. The forest path will now climb continually. The gravel is loose and rough in places and several water bars cross the path. After approx. 2.5 km you will reach a beautiful spot where you can enjoy views of the Harbe pond and the Harbe meadows which is ideal for a break. After ca. 3 km you will reach the highest point of this route. There is a turn-off to Aifner Alm, but remain on the path that is now taking you downhill and easy to navigate. The circular route will take approx. 2 hours and is 6 km long. Return to the starting point at Naturparkhaus via the same short path as at the beginning of the route.

Alte Straße from Wenns to Arzl

Start
Hinter dem Pitztaler Hof (1003m)
Finish
Abzw. Timmls (936m)
Swiss-Trac Tour: Please note that we recommend starting this route from Wenns in the direction of Arzl, as there is a steep forest section the opposite way around. Return via Regiobus shuttle bus.
Start this route in Wenns (if possible, park behind Pitztaler Hof). From there, the first kilometre is a steady uphill climb on a tarmac road in between houses. You will then reach a forest road with a central grass verge so that only the narrow tracks either side are drivable. The next kilometre continues to be a steady uphill climb, in parts through a forested area and always with beautiful views of the valley. The last part of this route is a steep downhill section where the path is, in parts, hard to navigate. You will then get back to the road where you will find the bus stop.

Pitzenhöfe - Unterleins

Start
Wenns, car park Pitzenhöfe (860m)
Finish
Wenns, car park Pitzenhöfe (862m)
Swiss-Trac Tour: There is a car park directly opposite the football pitch in Pitzenhöfe. From there, follow the path past the chapel on the left into the forest. The tarmac road stops here and turns into a gravel forest path. The path is wide and easy to navigate with the Swiss-Trac. It is a steady and steep uphill climb in the direction of Leins with water bars crossing the path at regular intervals. You will reach the hamlet of Unterleins after ca. 2.5 km. Here, the path follows along the village road through the hamlet until reaching the main road. The path continues on the opposite side to Oberleins, however, as it is hard to navigate. It is therefore advised to turn back and return via the same route to the starting point.

Kogel Route - Blue

Start
Glacier Restaurant (2837m)
Finish
Top station Brunnenkogel (t-bar lift) (3244m)
Access:
From the Glacier Restaurant at the top station of Pitztal's Gletscherexpress via a short downhill stretch (about 50 m) to the tour's starting point at the base station of Brunnenkogel T-bar lift.

Characteristics and Description:
Blue Piste – Easy ski tour along the ski run
The ascent route follows exactly the ski piste number 20 on a moderately climbing route, starting at the T-bar lift's base station and leading along the right edge of the ski run (seen from the valley). After about 500 m the ascent route leaves the ski run, joining a separate ascent track towards a short steep slope between the ski piste and the jagged mountain saddle. After this strenuous climb you reach a level area where the route crosses the ski run towards its left side (seen from the valley). Here you continue on the groomed ascent track between the ski lift and the T-bar lift until you get to the lift's top station.
