 Start your hike from the bus stop Pitztaler Hof through the  historic lower town with its museum, the historic, beautifully painted ‘Platzhaus’, war memorial and parish church and follow the signpost ‘Rundwanderweg Pitzenhöfe’ [Pitzenhöfe circular route]. Opposite the restaurant "alte Post", turn right and immediately left and follow the path until the  Pitzenhöfe hamlet. Turn right before the wooden bridge and follow the forest path to the St. Margarethen hamlet (Wenns). Continue to walk on the pavement of the main road to return to your starting point. There are several options to stop for refreshments on your way back (Pitz Park, Gasthof Pitztalerhof, Gasthof Alte Post and Rutsche Pub Bar).

Old road to Arzl

Starting point is the bus stop Wenns Pitztalerhof or Wenns Gemeindezentrum. With the Regio Bus Pitztal or within 5 minutes walking from the parking space Mehrzwecksaal you will reach the starting point. Follow the turn-off in the direction Siedlung towards Klöfles. There you take the forest path or rather winter hiking path towards Arzl. Once there you can either comfortably return to the starting point on the Pitztal Regiobus or return by the same route. Walking time from Wenns to the Timls turnoff is approx. 1.2 hrs

Hike from Falsterwies to Gischlewies

The trail sets off at Hotel Jerzner Hof bus stop and leads uphill to the hamlet of Falsterwies. Once there, continue on a wide forest road to the hamlet of Gischlewies. Return to the starting point via the same route. There are several options for a pub stop only a few minutes' walk from the starting and end point of this hike (Pitzloch, Restaurant Zirm and Hotel zum Lammwirt).

Glacier cross-country skiing trail

Open: High altitude cross-country ski trail in autumn and spring. During the winter season the high altitude cross-country ski trail can be groomed for groups of 20+ on request.

Altitude training: between 2,690 m and 2,740 m you can improve your stamina over 50 metres of elevation gain

Infrastructure and facilities: there are changing rooms and space to wax your cross-country skis as well as toilets at Mittelbergjoch railway station.

Course of the trail: Access via Glacier Express up to 2,840 m (please note that special tickets for hikers and cross-country skiers can be purchased). Once on the glacier you can reach the top station of the 6-seater chairlift in around 100 m. This chairlift will take you to the start of the glacier cross-country skiing trail. The access point is behind the bottom station of the the 8-seater gondola lift on 2,690 m and the trail runs in more or less even ascents up to its highest point at 2,740 m. The chairlift will comfortably return you to the mountain station of the Glacier Express.

The valley cross-country skiing trail follows the Pitze river all along the bottom of the valley between the villages of Mittelberg and Wiese. The 21.3 km long trail has a set track for classic skiing and for skate skiing and can be skied in both directions. It is furthermore possible to access or exit the trail in any of the villages en route. The valley trail is a must for any cross-country skier visiting Pitztal, not only because it is excellently groomed but because of its magnificently scenic setting.

From the Piller Musikpavillon bus stop or the Piller Zentrum car park, this hike initially leads in the same direction as the Beckenhof circular hiking trail, but after a short while branches off to the left. Then there is a somewhat demanding ascent for ca. 500 meters and after another kilometre there is the possibility of making a detour of 400 metres to the managed fishpond Fischteich Piller. You can return to the starting point via the same route, covering a total distance of 3.5 km and an elevation difference of ca. 150 metres.

The starting point is opposite the fire station, to the right of the river Mühlbach. At the beginning of the trail there is a slight ascent, most of the part there are low slopes. At the first fork follow the path on the right until you reach the hamlet of Schön. There you follow the signs (Schönlarch) and cross the Pitztaler Landesstraße. Via a path you reach the hamlet of Schönlarch. At the car dealer Reinstalder, cross the Pitztaler Landesstraße again and return to the starting point at the fire station via the hamlet "Niederhof".

Hubertus cross-country skiing trail

This is a rather demanding trail with set tracks for classic skiing and set skate skiing tracks in places. It meanders over 7.5 km in length through the partially thick forest areas. After approximately 2 km skiers reach a small clearing and the trail runs over a demanding ascent to the “Harbeweiher” pond. After a short loop around the frozen lake and a further ascent, the highest point of the cross-country skiing trail is reached. From there the trail again runs through dense forests back to the stating point. This cross-country skiing trail is ideal for nature lovers with adequate stamina. 

Pitztaler Sagensteig

Follow the “Pitztaler Sagensteig” [path of Pitztal’s legends] with five stops - about the myths and legends of Pitztal - up to the catered mountain hut Gletscherstube at the foot of the Mittelberg glacier. You can return back to Mittelberg via the same path or follow the agricultural road or the Talwanderweg [valley hiking trail] to Mandarfen.

Happy Track

The “Happy Track” starts at the public car park next to the community hall in the centre of Wenns. You will wak past historic buildings through Wenns for the first few metres to Hotel Pitztaler Hof. From there, head north and follow the signs to the “Talwanderweg”. Shortly after a small playground there is a junction, continue uphill in the direction of “Langenau”. The actual “Happy Track” starts there. There are three interactive stations focusing on the subject of “self-esteem”. Old thought patterns are questioned, inner strengths are brought to the fore and affirmations are used to show ways in which to gain confidence. At the end of the “Happy Track” there is visitor’s or “pathways book” which gives inspiration for the following day and you can also leave messages for others. Once you arrive at the small chapel in Steinhof, follow the signs again in the direction of the “Talwanderweg” to Wenns. The entire loop is almost six kilometers long and is manageable with an all-terrain pushchair.
