Climbing park of Jerzens-Hochzeige

Start

The climbing park of Jerzens-Hochzeiger offers numerous routes with varying degrees of difficulty. The Pitzi climbing rock, as it is often called, also provides two easy via ferratas with a way down through the forest. Moreover, children can test their balance ability on a rope bridge. In order to make sure all family members can get started with climbing and have their first tries, a few man-made holds are attached to a rock. The climbing park of Jerzens-Hochzeiger is the ideal newcomer area for children and serves as "preliminary step" for greater challenges. The climbing garden is equipped with a general map of all routes, sheltered seating facilities and tables.

For skilled climbers, our mountain guides recommend the climbing area in Plangeross in the valley of Piz. The so-called Witch's cauldron (in German "Hexenkessel") enchants climbers with ca. 90 climbing tours. Bertram Tschiderer and Patric Rupprich renovated the climbing area in 2012.

The wall's orientation is toward the northeast. All routes in the sector Hellraiser, in the sector Mafia and some in the sector Sphinx, are resistant to rain. All other routes get wet fairly quick. After long continued rainfall it takes at least two days for the wall to dry up. Best time is the beginning of May until the end of Septembre. Also on hot days, the conditions are good.
The climbing grade is, at least up to difficulty level 7a, very hard!
The protection is good. However, only the new routes are equipped with standard conformant material. The stands are all equipped with carabiners. The route names are written at the entry points.

Commentary of the major developer Patric Rupprich:
"Exactly what I have been looking for for a long time, shady and cool, short ascent and very effective climbing. No long "walk in the park", but from the very start, you need to hold on".
