The hike starts from the parking space Fußballplatz Arzl. Follow the farm and forest road to the left of the soccer field. At the junction follow the road uphill in the direction of Ostersteinsiedlung for about 400 m. Then return via the so called path Diemersteig to the starting point.

Trail to the Taschach Alm

From the car park of the Rifflsee gondola cross the bridge and turn left to walk on the wide agricultural road up to the catered mountain hut Taschach Alm. Take the same way back to Mandarfen.

Starting point: Jerzens fish pond (Mountain Camp)

Type of cross-country skiing trail: Skate skiing and classic

You can easily reach the starting point of this cross-country skiing trail by using the ski or cross-country ski shuttle bus. This skate skiing trail starts directly next to the Pitzal country road (L16) and initially follows the Pitze river until the access road to Kienberg. Crossing a bridge you can reach the opposite side of the Pitze river and the trail then meanders in several loops around the many hay barns. The fishpond restaurant with its comfortable ambience is an inviting stop for refreshments.
 

Glacier Trail Braunschweiger mountain hut

From the top station of the Glacier Express, follow the signposts downhill towards the glacier in the direction of the catered mountain hut Braunschweigerhütte. Follow the markings across the glacier. Caution: depending on the conditions, crampons may be advisable! After crossing the glacier, ascend to the Braunschweigerhütte. Once there, initially follow the Jägersteig [hunter’s trail] down into the valley until you reach the “Notweg” [emergency path] then passing the catered mountain hut Gletscherstube back down to the bottom station of the Glacier Express in Mittelberg.

Starting point: Glacier Express, further to 6-seater chairlift

Type of cross-country skiing trail: Classic and skate skiing

Altitude training: between 2,690 m and 2,740 m you can improve your stamina over 50 metres of elevation gain

Infrastructure and facilities: there are changing rooms and space to wax your cross-country skis as well as toilets at Mittelbergjoch railway station.

Open: start of the cross-country skiing season is around mid-September depending on snow and weather conditions. For further information please contact the glacier railway or Pitztal Tourism Association.
Course of the trail: Access via Glacier Express up to 2,840 m (please note that special tickets for hikers and cross-country skiers can be purchased). Once on the glacier you can reach the top station of the 6-seater chairlift in around 100 m. This chairlift will take you to the start of the glacier cross-country skiing trail. The access point is behind the bottom station of the the 8-seater gondola lift on 2,690 m and the trail runs in more or less even ascents up to its highest point at 2,740 m. The chairlift will comfortably return you to the mountain station of the Glacier Express.

Starting point: car park Volksschule Wald. Walk past the church on the left up the hill to the village of Bichl. At the fork, turn right and pass two chapels until you reach the Rastboden. Once there, turn left over a steep path to return to Weiler then continue back to your starting point.

Type of cross-country skiing trail: Classic and skating

The starting point of this cross-country skiing trail can easily be accessed by using the ski and cross-country ski shuttle bus. Nestled in the snow secure high altitude of Piller, this so called fox moss [Fuchsmoos] cross-country skiing trail offers great variety. There are several options to shorten the circular route and the trail is therefore ideally suited for cross-country skiers of all abilities. The trail offers diverse scenery and runs though forests and meadows showing visitors the entire beauty and tranquility of the magnificent winter landscape of Kaunergrat nature park.

Difficulty: easy, moderate and difficult cross-country skiing trails
 

Large ´Harbeweiher´ [pond] circular route

As with the small Harbeweiher pond circular hike, with your back turned to the Nature Park Centre, turn right on the farm road in a southerly direction. Follow this road to a fork and also turn right in the direction of Harbeweiher pond. Unlike the small Harbeweiher pond circular route, continue to follow this road past a fantastic viewing point until you reach the Harbeweiher pond. This pond is an extremely untouched and wild, romantic area not far from the Nature Park Centre and lends itself perfectly for nature lovers who do not want to cover long distances. After a short ascent, you will have reached the highest point and can then return on a forest road to the other side of the Nature Park Centre.

Route description:
Set out from the public car park near the Berghotel Steinbock in Mittelberg. To enjoy the breath-taking views of the valley basin and glacier river from the terrace of the Gletscherstube restaurant you have to conquer 160 metres in altitude. This technically easy route on a gravel road in good condition gives beginners the opportunity to experience the overwhelming sense of mountain biking in the heart of the mountains. 
Bikers could easily include this small route, even after another more demanding mountain tour.
