Kaunergrathütte (2814m)
Finish

2nd  route: Hikers with alpine experience can follow a high route, the so called Cottbuser Höhenweg, which is partially equipped with fixed ropes until you reach the top station of Rifflseebahn gondola. Continue hiking down to the catered mountain hut Taschach Alm and then descend to Mittelberg.
Both variants of the hike join up again in Mittelberg. Once there, continue the last 1,000 metres in altitude up to the catered mountain hut Braunschweiger Hütte.

Steinwand - Arzl im Pitztal

Start
(1047m)
Finish
(851m)

The via ferrata is reachable within 10 mintues from a parking place near the valley entrance of the Pitztal. The easy variant leads towards the right after the access and is the ideal preparation for the more difficult route on the left side. You climb up the stone wall in three sections. Hence, it is possible to either do a round tour in the wall or walk down comfortably to the valley. The beginning is promising. Over an edge with a view to the valley, you climb up and later you reach the junction via a traverse. The second part is very demanding. Within the difficulty level of C and D+, the route utilises the natural formations, levels and plates of the partly outwards expanding rock. For families, the rope stretches toward the west over a ramp. Both variants rejoin at the exit. Hence, different variations are possible and the easier part can be used as a descent to make a round trip.

Descent
Various trials lead comfortably down to the valley. For the shortest distance back to the parking space, walk from the transmitter a small section on the wide path downwards and then turn right to Arzl.

The terrain of the descent is mostly flat. On steep parts, wooden pedestals are provided. For children, a Tipi made of wood is located between the boulders. The individual boulders are connected with a trail. The large meadow in the middle of the boulder area is ideal for taking a rest.
